History

The Rolex Yacht-Master was launched by Rolex in 1992 as the more upscale variant of the Submariner. The first Yacht-Master, reference 16628, was made entirely in 18k yellow gold. In 1994, especially for the Asian market, or for gentlemen with a narrower wrist, the 35 mm ref. 69628 of the Yacht-Master was introduced. Only in 1999 did the all-steel version of the 40 mm Yacht-Master appear on the market, equipped with a platinum dial and ditto rotating bezel.
