Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master ref. 16700 with box & papers from Rolex from 1999
The Rolex GMT-Master ref. 16700 was introduced in 1988 and is the first GMT-Master to feature both a glossy dial with white gold hour markers and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. This particular reference is produced with a black aluminum bezel inlay, but is best known for the blue and red “Pepsi” colours. Apart from these two choices, there was also the option to order the 16700 on an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. The 40 mm measuring case houses an improved 3175 caliber that makes it possible to operate the date with the so-called “quickset” function. Unlike the iconic plexiglass GMTs of the past, the 16700 can be seen as a true neo-vintage sports Rolex.
Steel watch case (40mm) with bi-directional rotating bezel with blue/red (‘Pepsi’) aluminum inlay. Black dial with Luminova hour markers. Sapphire glass. Automatic movement cal. 3175 with date and extra hand for the second time zone. Steel Rolex Oyster bracelet with a folding clasp.
