Introduction

Rolex DateJust was created in 1945 to mark the company’s 40th anniversary. This model was the world’s first self-winding wristwatch with a date indication (since 1955 with the cyclops lens). With the DateJust, Rolex also introduced the iconic 5-piece Jubilee bracelet. The Datejust 16xxx-series was introduced in the late 1970s and is recognizable by the flat dial and the quick set of the date.
